Advent Carol Service
Come along to St George’s this Sunday (December 2nd) at 5pm and join in the anticipation of Advent as we process in candlelight, sing plainsong antiphons, seasonal hymns, anthems and motets. This service is a favourite of the boys and men of the parish choir, a very special start to the journey of expectation and preparation which leads to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
Big Coffee Break for the NI Hospice
St George’s will be supporting Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Break for the NI Hospice on Wednesday, 21st November at 11am in the Parish Hall. We are looking forward to this opportunity to continue our support for the extraordinary work undertaken by the Hospice. Do come along to enjoy Bewley’s coffee and cake.
All Souls Day 2018
Our Requiem Eucharist and Commemoration of the Faithful Departed will take place on the evening of All Saints Day, Thursday 1st November at 8pm. The service will be sung by the Chamber Choir.
Christ is the morning star who when the night of this world is past brings to his saints the promise of the light of life and opens everlasting day
Visit of Keith and Lyn Scott
Evan, Fergus and Max installed full choristers
Welcome to Evan, Fergus and Max as they were installed full choristers at Evensong this afternoon. The choir sang Stanford in A and I was glad, ( 100 years to the day since the death of its composer, Parry.) we also welcomed 13 new probationers last Friday, with a few more to follow. Thank you to the parents who commit to becoming chorister parents, a role which can be quite demanding!
Next Sunday, the choir sings the Eucharist in St Anne’s Cathedral, while we welcome their choir to sing our Eucharist.
