Christmas at St George’s

We have a very exciting programme of Christmas engagements and services coming up over the next few weeks, at which the choir will be singing music from the likes of Haydn, Lauridsen, Chilcott, Macmillan and Rutter.

Be sure to save these key dates in your diary now! We look forward to seeing you over the Christmas period. 🎄

Parish Choir host fundraising lunch

As well as serving up a wonderful rendition of the Canterbury Mass and Gibbons ‘This is the record of John’ on Sunday morning, December 15th, the choir served up hot dogs and mince pies after the service. All in aid of choir funds and their tour to Cambridge next summer.

Appointment to Peterborough Cathedral

Congratulations to Will Fox-Roberts on his appointment to Peterborough Cathedral as Counter-tenor lay clerk. Will takes up his new position in January, singing evensong 4 evenings per week and three services on a Sunday. We will miss him greatly, not just for his singing, but also his meticulous organising of culture night and his conducting during the summer months. The choir will be singing a concert in Peterborough cathedral next July and we hope he can join us for that. We wish you all the very best for this new beginning.

Warm welcome to our new choristers

A great evensong on Sunday, October 6th with the installation of eight choristers. We welcome Archie, Charlie F, Charlie McC, Cormac, David, Jack, Leo, Oscar as trebles. We look forward to Matthew’s returning from London and to his installation at Christmas time.
Well done to the soloists; Nicholas, Will, Ben snd Matty, who sang Britten’s cat, mouse, flowers and letters in ‘Rejoice in the Lamb’ As always, an extra special thanks to Mark McGrath for his magnificent organ accompaniments.
This is how they sounded as probationers.
